# How good are the predictive analytics capabilities of Tableau?

Tableau Desktop does have in-built predictive analytics capabilities. But we could also build the predictive model outside Tableau and pull the data into it. So, should we depend on an external predictive modelling tool or the in-built capabilities of Tableau are good enough?

That depends on so many answers. My first recommendation is: "done is better than perfect". If you can build and run your model and you are satisfied with your solution (fast results as well) - stick to that software. It is not about the tool (Tableau, 3rd party, etc.).
Tableau has build-in functionality for predictive, reporting, analysis and so on and there are many use cases for using Tableau.
