### Comment 1

Google Authenticator integrates with online services that support two-factor authentication (2FA) by using a shared secret key provided during setup. When enabling 2FA on a platform, the service displays a QR code or setup key, which is scanned or entered into the Google Authenticator app. The app then generates time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) that sync with the service’s authentication system. During login, the user enters their password and the current code from the app, which is verified against the server’s expected value. This integration works across many websites, apps, and enterprise systems that support standard TOTP-based authentication.
