# How do you handle occasional Deepgram transcription slowdowns and delayed spend updates?

I have had a great experience with Deepgram for fast, easy-to-use transcription that helps get church sermons onto podcast platforms quickly. The main issues I run into are occasional slowdowns when servers seem full and API spend not updating immediately, which makes testing and measuring cost inconvenient. Have you seen similar delays, and do you have any tips for working around them while keeping workflows moving?

I’ve also leaned on Deepgram for low-latency streaming, but I’m cautious about relying on it long term since it’s closed and we can’t self-host or inspect anything like we could with Whisper. For a student-run nonprofit, the free credits make prototyping easy, but I worry costs could climb fast once you’re processing lots of tutoring audio hours. I’d also test on realistic recordings first since accuracy can drop with heavy accents or background noise, and language coverage may not fit students who speak local languages.
