# How do you handle incorrect or irrelevant suggestions in GitHub Copilot?

GitHub Copilot can speed up development with real-time code suggestions, function auto-complete, and debugging support, which helps boost productivity and deliver projects faster. At the same time, the generated code is not always correct or optimized, so it still needs review and testing, and some suggestions can feel irrelevant. Pricing for access to the most effective models can also be a factor. What workflows or checks do you use to validate Copilot output while keeping the speed gains?

I handle irrelevant suggestions by immediately using the keyword shortcut to reject the snippet or simply continuing to type. If the logic is repeatedly off, I drop a more descriptive natural language comment or docstring right above the block. This helps force the AI context window to re-align with my precise parameters instead of hallucinating outdated library configurations.

I don't accept every suggestion obviously. I review the code and test it  and modify or ignore suggestions that don't match my requirements. If Copilot gives irrelevant results, I provide a clearer prompt or add more context to get better suggestions.

Use Copilot instructions to keep the prompts and the response sorted, which will help you optimize the token wrt to the relevant suggestions unlikely to be present in your current scenario
