# How do you balance Upwork’s fees and competition with the steady work it brings?

Upwork has been great for finding work without chasing clients, since jobs started coming in after setting up a profile. Payment protection also helps, because it reduces the worry of getting ghosted and makes getting paid feel more reliable. The downside is the fees taken from every payment, plus intense competition that can burn through connects for newer freelancers. How have you handled the fees and competition while trying to keep work steady on Upwork?
