# How do patching exceptions work in OneSite Patch?

Patching Exceptions (Advanced Settings > Flex Controls > Exceptions) allow administrators to define Desired State Overrides for specific products within specific Business Units. Options include:
•	Mandatory Install – treat product as mandatory
•	Do Not Install – block installation
•	Rollback – force rollback when a later version is detected
•	Uninstall – remove the product from devices in the Business Unit
•	Last Allowed Version – prevent updates beyond a specified version
Multiple exceptions can be managed under a single policy. Patching Exceptions set for a Business Unit take precedence over Product settings in the Patching Strategy.
Additionally, Exceptions can be used to lock a product to a certain version for a specific Business Unit. This ensures that as new patches are released they are not applied for those users until the Exception is removed.
