1. You need to configure backup policies for the workloads, 
2. Monitor the daily backup status
3. Check for any backup failures and rectify the same if any
4. Update Backup Exec application with regular updates
5. Have 3-2-1 strategy for backups, 3 copies of data, 2 on different backup medium, one at offsite or DR location
