# how do i make chrome eat less memory in the background?

chrome can use up a lot of RAM at times. how do i limit that?

According to Windows Experts you can perform the following steps to reduce Chrome memory usage:

"Close Unused Tabs.
Run a Malware Scan.
Enable Hardware Acceleration.
Remove conflicting browser Extensions.
Creating a new User Profile for Google Chrome.
Disable the Site Isolation feature.
Turn on Use a prediction service to load pages more quickly.
Reset or Reinstall Google Chrome."
