Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system that contains applications for transaction processing, business intelligence, and analytics in enterprise IT environments.

Microsoft SQL Server is based on the SQL programming language. This language is used to manage databases and query data from a database. SQL Server uses Transact-SQL ( T-SQL ), which adds a set of proprietary plug-ins to the standard language.
