# How are you using Mintlify custom React components, and what search/variable gaps have you hit?

We have loved using Mintlify to build custom React components that improve the docs UX, and it has reduced backend maintenance compared with making similar UX changes in MkDocs. GitHub integration and preview builds also make it easier to share in-progress docs with stakeholders. The main pain points have been search not supporting variables (forcing string literals for headers) and variables not resolving correctly in RSS-subscribed pages. How are others handling variables, snippets, and search limitations in Mintlify today?
