# Has anyone used VEED’s free reading speed test with your own text?

I tried VEED’s free reading speed test where you paste your own text, get a WPM score, answer 3 AI-generated comprehension questions, and see instant results with no sign-up. I liked how quick and straightforward it was, but I’m curious how others feel about the comprehension questions and the results overall. Have you found the WPM and questions accurate and useful for tracking progress?

I think the combination of reading speed and comprehension is much more useful than a WPM score alone. The WPM calculation can provide a reasonable baseline, but results will naturally vary depending on the difficulty of the text, familiarity with the subject, and distractions during the session. Three AI-generated questions are helpful as a quick comprehension check, although I would not treat one short quiz as a definitive assessment.
For tracking progress, I would use texts of similar length and difficulty under consistent conditions, then compare several sessions rather than individual scores.
