The AI tools from Microsoft and ChatGPT that I’ve used for academic purposes stand out for being very clear and explanatory with the information I need to develop. It’s a fact that these technologies are here to stay, and we must adapt to this new reality. As social beings, it’s our responsibility to continually reinvent ourselves in this ever-changing world.

When it comes to creativity, every time I ask an AI to create a design or illustration, the result often resembles a "Frankenstein" that doesn’t meet my expectations. For this reason, I’ve stopped looking to these tools for inspiration or references for illustrations. However, in logical and mathematical aspects, their performance is outstanding.

Hello Maura,

I'm sure it's just a matter of time before these AI iterations enhance their capabilities for design, art, and other forms of creative art.

Hi Brett,

I think the speed of change with AI is going at breakneck speed, and it is impossible to look at a timeline as long as 5 years.

In the space of 3 weeks I have seen all the main players jockeying for 'pole position'. One week, Microsoft is taking the lead, then Google is pegging them back, and then NVIDIA are taking the fore, then it's Elon Musk, then OpenAI take the lead etc.

I've used AI mainly for recreating policies and standards and cross-referenced them with existing policies and standards.

As long as we can have frameworks that will ensure safeguards and controls are in place regarding AI then that will great. However, ensuring regulation and compliance can be enforced across different boundaries and territories cannot be guaranteed and this is where major problems lie.

That's a good point. It's probably unimaginable what things will look like by 2030.

If we go back to 2005 and think about how much transformation happened with smart phones after the iPhone was introduced, I'd have to guess AI will be several orders of magnitude more than that.

Hi Brett,

You're right Brett. Back in 2005 we all had Nokia or Ericcson phones. And look what happened to both those companies. Then we had Blackberrys, and they have never scaled the same heights again. The iPhone changed everything.

And AI is going to change everything again - it does seem very tumultuous at the moment, with so many companies vying with each other for supremacy and market dominance. It's hard to settle with any flavour at the moment with so many clashing and disrupting variations and enhancements appearing on almost a fortnightly basis,
