The features of a digital signature include creating a unique fingerprint using cryptographic methods to associate the identity of the user with the content of the document. This process involves mathematical algorithms to create a private key and a public key for each user and/or transaction. When a document is digitally signed, a hash of the document is created and encrypted with the private key, forming the digital signature. A key property of a digital signature is that if the document is altered after signing, the signature becomes invalid.
