No Microsoft teams doesnt require OneDrive

What works without OneDrive: You can still use Teams for audio and video calls, meetings, group chats, and sharing files within Team Channels which use SharePoint.

What requires OneDrive: Sharing files in 1 on 1 or group chats requires OneDrive for Business. If OneDrive is disabled, users will get an error when trying to upload or share files in private chats.

No, Microsoft Teams is used for conferencing or to do video calls. Whereas OneDrive is cloud storage. No link and dependancy between them.
