# Does HAProxy support UDP load balancing, or is it just TCP and HTTP?

A few of our services use UDP, so support for it could affect whether HAProxy works across our whole
environment. What UDP capabilities are available, and are there any important limitations?

HAProxy Enterprise supports UDP as well. It load-balances UDP alongside TCP and HTTP, which matters for services like DNS, RADIUS, and Syslog that depend on UDP. These workloads are sensitive to latency and packet loss, so it prioritizes low latency and high packet-delivery rates for a consistent quality of service. And because it runs in the same product as your TCP and HTTP load balancing, there is no separate UDP appliance to maintain.
