# Connect delay and call quality issues slow live conversations and make me sound unprepared

I rely on Orum to jump quickly into live conversations, but the lag between a prospect picking up and me actually being connected creates awkward starts. I sometimes end up talking over the other person or needing to repeat my intro because of the delay. On top of that, drop-offs and inconsistent audio mean I occasionally have to call back and explain why the line suddenly cut out, which does not reflect well on me or my company. When parallel or power dialing is laggy or misidentifies a voicemail as a live person, it eats into my calling blocks and makes it harder to hit my outbound goals. Is anyone else seeing this kind of connect delay or call quality friction, and how do you handle it when you are in front of a prospect?
