# Can you extend the timeout amount before it logs the user out?

I am logged into SurePayroll inputting my data and if I have to check on something away from my desk or deal with a phone call and come back to the computer, I am usually signed out.

You can't lengthen the time, but you can stretch it. If you are on a page for a while you may get logged out even if you are working. I find that if I save my work it starts the time-out clock over. Even if I haven't changed anything in a while I often will save in order to buy more time. Reloading the page or jumping to another page (within SurePayroll) and returning also seems to work. I know it is frustrating but with a few work-arounds you can stay logged in for quite a while.
