# Caching

How should caching be handled with an ADC?

For best results, caching should be done at the ADC level.

Backend-server-level caching doesn&#39;t work for this reason: when requests come in to the ADC, we cannot guarantee which backend server will handle each one. The cache can easily become out of sync, when a purge request hits one server but not the others.
