# Are there any third-party or other useful tools for management of duplicates?

I know thre was one that was recently launched but it still requires quite a bit of manual work.

I don't know of any tools but my workaround was to export everything sort it on multiple fields, add or update fields that have values that might be of value, then put a character in the main field of the items that are no longer necessary, that will allow it to sort in a list. Pull the list and delete them.

The best way to ensure you don't have duplicates is to normalize your data by always having an email address (if you can avoid non business email addresses as the primary), have a consistent naming convention for names in general such as always capitalize the first letter in each word, the states as spelled out or as two alpha characters and so forth. Then properly segmented it and keep your data clean by keeping up with it on a scheduled basis. It's less painful. Even merging duplicates can be problematic.
