Acquia Cloud is a Managed Services Offering that runs Drupal Applications.  Drupal is an Open Source application with very flexible addon features.  Acquia provides a dashboard to assist with Deployments, and Management of the Environments.  Since Acquia Cloud is a managed services application, all OS Updates and Patches are performed by Acquia.
