A metric is the unique string representing a piece of data you send to us. If you send a &quot;foo.bar&quot; datapoint a million times in a month, that is considered one metric. If you sent us &quot;foo.bar.1&quot;, &quot;foo.bar.2&quot;, etc. each of those unique metric names would count as one metric.
