# How does vembu assure security and authority to the users data?

Is Vembu compliant with the latest GDPR? What encryption standard does Vembu use to ensure that its user's data is secure?

Vembu provides inbuilt security to the user’s data by encrypting it with the AES-256 bit encryption algorithm and it does comply with the EU GDPR and other standard regulations too. Users will also have absolute control over their data by setting up their own encryption password for all the backup jobs they’ve configured from Vembu BDR.
