# How does LogicMonitor collect data?

This is achieved using on-site Collectors (for which there is no license fee, so install as many as you need but no more).  Collectors should be set up in hot-standby pairs, or in larger load-balanced clusters if you are have a large (over 100 deivce), centrally-monitored estate.

The Collectors use LogicModules to monitor the remote devices.
