# I heard that photos of type JPG (i think) do not count towards the 5GB free space, is it true?

And why?
And what other types of files are not counted towards the 5GB of space.

The answer is, it depends. "It depends on what you mean by" download ".

If you download from a website, than some sites automatically compress the file "quickly", and the text is compressed very well, while the JPEG is already compressed, so it will not compress at all. In this case, there will be a big difference.

If you only use the copy command to copy files from one computer to another, there will be no difference. However, if you are using some kind of special tool, again, it depends on whether or not it uses auto-compression. The only difference between jpeg and text is the possibility to compress files.

There is no difference in the 'overhead' associated with transferring files, no matter what the files are.
