# Are there any options to deal with frozen screen other than rebooting the system?

When the main memory fills out due to memory leakage in some programs etc, the ubuntu freezes along with the mouse and keyboard. The only solution I have found is to try combination REISUB which safe reboots but all the unsaved work is lost. Is there any option to try in such a scenario?

Press Ctrl + Alt + F1 to switch to virtual terminal & then you can try commands like ps -ef to see running processes, top to monitor system resources, and kill to terminate unresponsive processes.
