# How do I customize my background for Skype

I am able to hold virtual meetings and gatherings and informative sessions through this software during these difficult and quarantined times.

To customize your background in Skype, follow these steps:

Open Skype and sign in to your account.
Click on your profile picture in the top left corner of the Skype window.
Select "Settings" from the drop-down menu.
In the "General" tab, scroll down to the "Appearance" section.
Under "Background image," click "Change."
Select the image you want to use as your background, or click "Add new" to choose an image from your computer.
Click "Open" to set the image as your background.
You can also use the built-in Skype backgrounds by selecting "Skype backgrounds" instead of "Change" in step 5.
