# I upgraded to Big Sur only to find that Quark was not compatible.

Quark folks need to tell us these things. pushing deadline, my only option was to pay the local pros $162 to retrograde my Mac back to Catalina. I hope we see better communications from Quark in the future so some of us might hold off on the next iOS upgrade. Very poor planning and no help from the Boss. I hope to hear from him or her with an apology.

The then current version was running on Big Sur. As with any software, they only guarantee it compatible with OS versions released at the time the software was released. I'm running QX 2021 on a Mojave machine and on a separate Monterey machine. We previously had it running on a Big Sur machine.

Hi, Keith. We’re sorry about this difficulty. QuarkXPress 2020 (version 16.2) and QuarkXPress 2021 (17.0.1) are both compatible with macOS Big Sur. QuarkXPress 2022 (18), expected to be released in December, will be compatible with macOS Monterey. We issue an OS compatibility update once per year, following the release of the latest macOS. Again, we’re sorry you had this difficulty. If you require further assistance, you can email support@quark.com.
