Laserfiche started in the 1980's as a means of digitizing paper (hence LaserFICHE as in old school fiche readers) so rooms full of poorly organized paper documents could be digitized, securely stored, and organized. It has since grown to a full featured business automation tool that can automate processing of documents and integrate with other systems. At it's core, Laserfiche is triggered by the processing of a document or receipt of a web form. A paper bill of lading is scanned by warehouse staff which then automates an entire AP process with integrations to an accounting or ERP system for example.

It's a business tool that organizes every type of document you can throw at it, while allowing you to easily automate a wide range of tasks, such as (but not limited to) approval processes, notifications, security, and retention policies.
