# How can I best use Free Transform Tool?

Does Illustrator have to rasterize the image, where each corner can distort the image? Right now I use Photoshop to accomplish this, but I loose the vector-editing capabilities.

If you're manipulating a vector image in illustrator, the image will remain vector based. Illustrator prefers to keep things as vector format, unless you directly for an object to become rasterized, the object will remain as vector.

Agree with Michael. Make sure you're using the Direct Select Tool to grab the individual Anchor Point or Bezier Handle. It has the same appearance, color, and keyboard shortcut as in Photoshop.

There are several additional tools to distort objects. From the Objects menu you have Envelope Distort, or Perspective. The Effects menu also several tools within it. And several pallets accessed from the Windows menu help, such as Pathfinder, Properties, and Transform to name a few.

In fact, you probably have more control on distorting the image in Illustrator than Photoshop. It's just different since you're working with Vector objects and not Raster objects.
