# When designing a brochure, should I have the front and back pages side by side in the layout?

I'm not sure if the printing company will need me to adjust the current layout so that the front and back pages are side by side or if they should be at the beginning and end of the brochure layout.

Hi Emily,

It totally depends on you, the printing company can make the required adjustments in any case. You can communicate this to your print company and they will make the required changes.

But in general, if you are using a different/thicker paper stock then make sense that you keep it side by side, at times designers also consider the thickness of the brochure to design a custom spine. Otherwise you can keep it at the beginning and end of brochure layout and printer can make the required adjustments.

These considerations could vary if you are designing a tri-fold brochure, for instance.
