# How can I better train my team in using good data?

As mentioned, I've had a difficult time training my team on using good data. They are initially very overwhelmed by the data and fields available in Good Dara and don't know where to start.

Hi Brittney,

To understand the full semantic data model of your data product can be sometimes overwhelming. I always suggest people start from the dashboards: Learn what's available, then slowly modifying the available: Take an existing report and change something: Add a new slicing attribute or a filter. It also helps if you can guide them with the metrics: What are the core, basic metrics they should focus on? What are just the derivates of these metrics? All that helps people to create their own reports and insights. Proper naming is the key: Are these the terms people use in their work? Do you use business names (e.g. Owner) instead of database names (e.g. User)?

I'd also like to mention we recently started GoodData University (https://university.gooddata.com) so people can learn more about the concepts and the world of data analytics.
