# improve interfaces, editable to the user?

Occasionally I find it difficult to find some files that are shared with me, I would like to know that it may be that I have badly configured?

I use the "shared with me" and "starred" a lot for files I have to look for. I hope this helps.

I have the same issue with GD. When the computer goes to sleep, the GD stops syncing. So I have to restart the client if I want to see all the up to date shares with me. GD glitch. I'm using Mac.

If you are in a large organization, this can be cumbersome, especially if departments do not set permissions appropriately and you are inundated with files you DON'T need!

As others have said, it has a lot to do with how things are shared. For those who are not familiar with the "shared with me" on the sidebar, I tend to check the box to share it with them in email. This may be the issue for you, someone "tells" you they have shared, but you do not have that expected email reminder.

I have also been given advice to check the shared with me on the sidebar on a regular basis, like daily or weekly depending on volume. Also, if I am looking for a particular item, I put the author or title of the document in the search by using the drop down menu.

Unable to find files shared with you shouldn't be an issue as a lot depends upon what kind of permissions are given to you to access the files. There is no configuration that needs to be done at your end with regards to files shared with you.

Share with others is not always clear... and even if i share amongst my own other google account, it does not allow me to save/download as if it were my own within that account.

It can be confusing if you have multiple Google accounts. You must be logged into the account to which files were shared and the sender must correctly configure the share settings.
