# what is the best way to remove the background of a image?

I use "calco de imagen" or image tracing

Using a layer mask in photoshop will allow you to remove the background without making it permanent. Once you load it into Illustrator, it should update if it is linked to the initial folder. This allows you to see the updates as you edit the image.

You could create a mask in illustrator but personally I would create a clipping path using photoshop this way you can call it up in illustrator and knock it out that way.

Photoshop is the tool created to manipulate images.  Illustrator is the tool to create vector graphics.  It is always harder to try to use one tool to do what was intended for another tool.  You will experience less frustration if you did this type of work in Photoshop.
