# what does clearing option do in financial module of GP?

The clearing entry enables you to zero out the balance in one account and put the balance in another account in one step. Without a clearing entry, you could create a journal entry manually. With the clearing entry, you can tell it to get the period balance or YTD balance so you don't have to go find the amount and enter it in a journal entry.
