# What are some little known features of zoom that could be useful for businesses

We are looking for ways to fully utilize zoom to its full capacity and we are looking for tips on little known features that could be useful for businesses.

We use Zoom for our waiting room. People go to our website which then redirects to a Zoom lobby for whoever is doing client intakes. They are admitted from the waiting room into our lobby, then we move them to a breakout room for a private conversation. You can have the Zoom link provided by a simple redirect from your DNS or with a RPC from your website. For the clients, the link is always the same, the Zoom link however is always changing. Super easy to implement with Zoom.

We use it for Virtual Training (and all of our communications, meetings, chats, calls) even before the pandemic.

I’ve used the polling features just for fun and engagement with my team. I’ve also used the breakout rooms in a few ways.  If your team is all virtual then you could use the breakout rooms for speed networking.  We also used them for skill building by working with a peer.  You can leave the main room and join the breakout rooms to see how everyone is doing and make sure they are on task.

Seamless integration with Live Streaming platforms like YouTube and Facebook make webinars and other live broadcasts easy.

We used the captioning feature to support a deaf participant in a Zoom workshop. They were able to lip-read most of the speaker's presentation but when the instructor switched to screen share, captions were needed. It wasn't perfect but it provided an adequate solution. We used the recording to clean up and refine the captions afterwards to improve the translation of speech to text.

I especially like using the virtual background. I have used Adobe Photoshop to create a number of "sets" for example for my interviews with CEOs and other Leaders for our BV-TV channels. Make it look impressive, us look bigger than we are as  business!  Usually does not need a fiddly green screen which is good.

The annotate function allows you to highlight your screen while presenting and screen-sharing. Like a virtual laser pointer. You can also add text and drawing to a screenshare, or let participants/co-hosts annotate the screen.

Hi Kevin, using the break-out rooms feature can be particularly helpful to tackle topics in smaller groups or when you have a consulting partner leading a strategic planning session as examples.

Polling and Instant Messaging features!  Like Skype for Business, or G-Chat or Slack, Zoom Pro Accounts have an instant message feature that allows for quick communication and file sharing. This can be turned off or administrated centrally. Also, you can create polls that meeting attendees can answer during your conference call.

Screen sharing and screen recording are two huge features we use. I am able to do a joint meeting and record it, so if we had multiple people that needed to talk on a presentation we could record it on zoom with multiple people.
