# For using the dashboard, does the data in Report Creator has to be in a certain order?

The Dashboard will display the data in the Report Creator, based on the order of the columns. And the order of the columns establishes the breadcrumb, for when you click through the Dashboard.

So for example, if your first column is Grade Level, and the second column in Country, then when the Dashboard originally loads, you will see data by Grade Level. And when you click on a Grade Level, it will show you the data by Country.

If you flip the order and make the first column "Country", then when the Dashboard originally loads, you will see the data by Country. And clicking on a Country will then show you the data by the next column (which per this example would be by Grade Level).

Honestly, Report Creator has been  a bit tricky, and I've never been able to customize a report and it come out exactly the way I want it to. You choose which fields you want to pull data from to create customized reports. I almost always have to use the chat feature (which is one of the best things about QS), and one of the techs help me to customize my reports. You can select all the fields you want to pull from, but sometimes it takes a little (or a lot) of tweaking. On the upside, QS does save reports so if you have to run the same one again, you do not have to customize it all over again. Hope this helps a bit.
