# Is Discord Nitro worth paying for?

I've been using Discord and always considered paying for the Nitro subscription, but I'm not fully sure if the perks that come with it are worth the cost. I'm more than happy to support Discord financially since they've made such a tremendous application for free. But since this is a recurring payment and not a one time thing, I'm a little skeptical.

Hey Nithin, good question! As a pretty avid Discord user myself, I've looked into Nitro and noted it provides three major benefits: (1) Increased max file size for file uploads and sharing, (2) higher-quality video and audio streaming, and (3) increased server and user-in-server customization. Depending on how you're utilizing Discord, these could be really beneficial. Max file size increases are hugely beneficial if you find yourself needing to share a lot of larger files via Discord. Customization elements can be fun for server users and also provide some interesting opportunities for branding. Also, if you find yourself demonstrating through Discord a lot, or making a lot of important calls through Discord, the improved video and audio quality from Nitro can be a big deal. Ultimately, it's going to come down to how you use Discord on the day-to-day. If you think the above features would be used a lot, then give a month-long subscription a try. If not, then maybe a subscription's not right for you, and that's ok.
