# DeepL predictive API

How can I use DeepL predictive mode inside the CAT tool

If by “predictive mode” you mean DeepL’s ability to “guess” the remainder of a translation based on the edits you make in place: Unfortunately, DeepL does not expose this functionality via API, so there is no way Smartcat — or any other CAT for that matter — can use it.

Hi Claudia! We’re sorry for replying late. Users can use DeepL engine provided by Smartcat, with no extra options. You can choose one when creating a project or pick this MT engine in the settings menu for existing projects. 
Could you please specify “predictive mode” more detailed? We might have got you wrong.
