Hi! Cleaned contacts have email addresses that have hard bounced or repeatedly soft bounced, and are considered invalid. Cleaned contacts do not count towards your billable contact limit.

Hey there!

Jake here from Mailchimp. Cleaned contacts are contacts who have been removed from the audience due to either hard bouncing, or repeatedly soft bouncing when an email is sent to them. Bounces indicate that the address the email was sent to is not able to have email delivered to it.

When a contact is cleaned, they are no longer included in your contact count, and are not able to receive further emails from you. If a contact who was cleaned wishes to rejoin your audience as subscribed in order to receive further emails, they will need to signup via a Mailchimp signup form for your audience.
