# Version

Hello, I would like to know every so often Drupal version is updated or if you work with generic versions

Drupal has a specific core release cycle: major, minor, and patch releases. 
Usually, Drupal core updates (bug fixes) are released once in a month but in case of a security vulnerability, there will be an immediate release. It is highly recommended to install those fixes. 
As for major releases, Drupal 9 is scheduled to June 2020. The current version, Drupal8, will be supported until November 2021. Commercial extended security support is not planned as developers promise, that it will be much easier to update from Drupal 8 to 9 than previous major upgrades.
