Es ist schwierig zu sagen, welche Software besser ist, da alles subjektiv ist. Einige Leute denken, dass Audacity besser ist, weil es kostenlos ist und viele Dinge (vielleicht mehr) tut als kostenpflichtige Software. Andere bevorzugen Sound Forge, weil es professionell ist und eine bessere Benutzeroberfläche hat. Seit Sound Forge von Sony aufgekauft wurde, gab es jedoch nicht viele Änderungen oder Fortschritte in der Software.
