Automatisierungsprozesse werden auf UiPath Studio, der Designer-Leinwand, ohne Programmierung abgebildet, indem Aktivitäten per Drag-and-Drop auf die Leinwand gezogen und mit Verbindern verknüpft werden, und indem Produktivitätsassistenten wie Recorder verwendet werden, die Automatisierungsschritte automatisch generieren. Der Designer und die Automatisierungs-Engine basieren auf der Windows Workflow Foundation (WWF), derselben Workflow-Engine, die in Sharepoint verwendet wird. Das unter der Haube verwendete UI Automation SDK ist proprietär von UiPath und wurde seit 2005 entwickelt.
