Should I put the effort into implementing an error monitoring software before I update or migrate my eCommerce store? Should I wait to implement the software after the dust has settled?
Monitored sites limit
I’m helping out with a couple of small business sites and trying to figure out the best budget-friendly monitoring tool. For SMBs, it feels like the sweet spot is something reliable that covers uptime/alerts without the enterprise-level complexity (or pricing).
From G2’s small business grid, these stood out:
- UptimeRobot: super simple, high satisfaction, seems like a great fit if you just need reliable uptime checks.
- Freshping by Freshworks: part of the Freshworks suite, looks like it balances features + affordability for SMBs.
- Better Stack: polished dashboards and incident tracking, but not sure how it prices out for small teams.
- Pulsetic: lightweight uptime + status page solution, reviews say it’s easy to set up.
- Site24x7: broader monitoring, but maybe more than a small business actually needs.
I’ve also seen folks mention Pingdom and StatusCake as affordable options.
From what I keep hearing ( and as many G2 reviews show), it feels like:
- For pure affordability, UptimeRobot and Freshping are hard to beat, especially if we are just focusing on uptime and basic alerts.
- If deeper performance insights are needed, people often recommend Pingdom or Uptime.com.
- For a blend of free, scalable, and easy-to-use, Site24x7 comes up a lot.
Curious if others here running SMB sites would agree with this, or if there are other underrated tools worth checking out.
Which tool gave you the best bang for your buck? Did you stick with a simple uptime tool like UptimeRobot or go with something that offered more features?
Also, would love to hear if people stick with the free versions long-term or end up upgrading pretty quickly.
