Question on: Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT
[How can i better collect data through RE NXT?](/discussions/how-can-i-better-collect-data-through-re-nxt)

I am learning how to use RE NXT and I want to know if there are any helpful tips to ease the process of transitioning as well as organizing our data.

Hi Katelyn, I'm Dominick, a research analyst overseeing our nonprofit categories here at G2. Great question! I used to work in fundraising and understand the stress that switching to a different software can cause. Depending on which software you used before, you may find that Raiser's Edge NXT makes your data organizing a bit easier. I want to preface that I have not used this particular Raiser's Edge product, so you might want to refer to their tools and tips for navigating the software, here: https://www.blackbaud.com/files/support/howto/renxt/index.html. You can also search for role-specific tips in that guide that will help you within fundraising. I would also recommend to keep applying the same data principles you would for any other software. Make sure you're getting donors to update their information regularly, and keep contact notes for every interaction you have with them, as well as using it to set reminders for follow-up. Link gifts back to the campaign that spurred the donor to give, so you can measure specific campaign performances. Raiser's Edge NXT does a great job with their Analysis feature to help you visually map out the trends in your constituents' donation habits, and you can segment out particular time periods or donor groupings (acquisition and retention, or even those at risk of lapsing, for example). As long as you're keeping up-to-date with donor data, the system should be providing you easy-to-navigate reporting functions to give you the big picture. The Insight Designer option will also allow you to track additional metrics beyond the ones populated by the software, so you can really get the most of your data. Hope this was helpful in some way!

Yes! You heard that right. The free plan comes with everything you’ll need to recruit and schedule your volunteer community. You may decide to unlock additional features by upgrading to a paid tier or purchase add-ons, but that is completely up to you.
