I use a lot of spreadsheets and some of them are so large and contain so much data that the Quip Desktop App can't manage it. BUT, if I open the quip file in a web browser, I can work the spreadsheet. So try opening Quip in your web browser (i use Google Chrome) and hopefully you'll be able to work your document there. Yes: in Numbers, using a Mac with a numeric keypad, click on the cell where you want the total to show. Press "=" (above the 8). Then click the first cell to be totaled, drag to the final cell, and hit Return. Job done.

Yes, probably many...but the way I use is simply to highlight the number of rows I want to insert, then right-click and select "Add Rows Above" (or Below). It will add in the number of rows you have highlighted.
