[Which Spend Management Solution Do Mid-Sized Firms Prefer?](/discussions/which-spend-management-solution-do-mid-sized-firms-prefer)

Hi all,

Starting a discussion to explore which spend management tools actually meet the needs of mid-sized companies. The ideal platform should offer enough structure to manage growing finance processes, but without the complexity of full enterprise systems.

Here are some top-rated platforms from G2’s [Spend Management Software category](https://www.g2.com/categories/spend-management):

- [**Airbase**](https://www.g2.com/products/airbase/reviews) – Offers a consolidated platform for bill payments, corporate cards, and reimbursements. How effectively does Airbase scale with multiple departments and cost centers?
- [**Procurify**](https://www.g2.com/products/procurify/reviews) – Designed to streamline purchasing workflows and spend approvals. Is it flexible enough for teams managing both centralized and distributed budgets?
- [**Ramp**](https://www.g2.com/products/ramp-financial-ramp/reviews) – Focuses on automation and insights, with a reputation for ease of use. Is it robust enough to meet the compliance and reporting needs of mid-sized orgs?
- [**Bill Spend & Expense (formerly Divvy)**](https://www.g2.com/products/bill-spend-expense-formerly-divvy/reviews) – Combines budgeting controls with expense management and smart cards. Does it strike the right balance between control and autonomy for team leads?
- [**Rippling**](https://www.g2.com/products/rippling/reviews)—While known for its HR and IT features, Rippling’s expense management is gaining traction. Is it practical as a standalone finance tool or more valuable when used as part of Rippling’s broader platform?

I would love to hear from teams that have adopted one of these or switched from one to another. What capabilities made a real difference? Where did the tools fall short?

If your team found a platform that made budget tracking easier across departments, I’d be curious to hear what helped it stick. Let me know if you’d like a version focused on use cases like departmental budgeting, vendor payments, or finance-IT collaboration.

[Most Recommended Spend Management Platforms by Consultants—Which Ones Stand Out?](/discussions/most-recommended-spend-management-platforms-by-consultants-which-ones-stand-out)

Consultants often get a front-row seat to how companies of all sizes manage spend, from early-stage implementation to enterprise optimization. I want to start a discussion about the spend management platforms consultants most frequently recommend to clients.

Based on G2’s [Spend Management Software category](https://www.g2.com/categories/spend-management), here are some of the platforms that consistently come up in expert circles:

- [**Spendflo**](https://www.g2.com/products/spendflo/reviews) – Marketed as a SaaS buying and optimization solution, Spendflo helps finance and procurement teams consolidate contracts, benchmark costs, and track renewals. Is it delivering strong ROI for clients managing dozens of software vendors?
- [**Airbase**](https://www.g2.com/products/airbase/reviews) – Known for unifying expense management, approvals, and reimbursements. Consultants often recommend it to clients seeking centralization without enterprise complexity. How well does it support audits and policy enforcement?
- [**Coupa**](https://www.g2.com/products/coupa-software-coupa/reviews) – Offers deep procurement and expense analytics, often used by larger clients needing compliance and supplier visibility. Is Coupa too feature-heavy for mid-sized implementations, or is the scalability worth the learning curve?
- [**Brex**](https://www.g2.com/products/brex/reviews) – Frequently chosen for its ease of setup, fast underwriting, and startup appeal. Consultants seem to value its integration options—but does it keep up with client needs as they grow beyond early-stage?
- [**Rippling**](https://www.g2.com/products/rippling/reviews) – Best known for HR and IT automation, but increasingly used to manage reimbursements and expense policies. Does it serve as a reliable standalone tool for spend, or is it best deployed as part of a broader Rippling stack?

If you’re a consultant—or have worked with one—what tools do you consistently recommend or see in client environments? Which ones provide quick wins, and which have proven durable over time?

Does Spendflo go beyond procurement support and offer meaningful post-purchase insights, or is it mostly about savings during negotiation? Let me know if you'd like alternate versions aimed at IT consultants, finance advisory firms, or implementation partners.

[Leading Spend Management Services for Startups—Which Tools Help You Move Fast Without Losing Control?](/discussions/leading-spend-management-services-for-startups-which-tools-help-you-move-fast-without-losing-control)

I want to start a discussion about spend management platforms—specifically those that help startups stay lean, move fast, and stay compliant without bloating their tech stack.

These platforms are currently top-rated in G2’s [Spend Management Software category](https://www.g2.com/categories/spend-management):

- [**Bill Spend & Expense (formerly Divvy)**](https://www.g2.com/products/bill-spend-expense-formerly-divvy/reviews) – Combines virtual and physical corporate cards with pre-approved budgets and automated expense reports. Is the spend control strong enough for early-stage companies with limited finance staff?
- [**Ramp**](https://www.g2.com/products/ramp-financial-ramp/reviews) – Offers a clean interface, automated spend limits, and insights designed to cut costs. How well does Ramp balance flexibility with financial discipline for startups scaling fast?
- [**Pleo**](https://www.g2.com/products/pleo/reviews) – Based in Europe and growing fast, Pleo simplifies spending with smart cards and real-time categorization. Can it handle the complexity of multi-currency and remote-first teams?
- [**Airbase**](https://www.g2.com/products/airbase/reviews) – A unified spend management platform that supports bill payments, cards, and employee reimbursements. Does it provide enough structure without feeling too enterprise-heavy?
- [**Brex**](https://www.g2.com/products/brex/reviews) – Offers startup-friendly underwriting, rewards, and integrations with accounting tools. How reliable is Brex when handling growing finance operations across entities?

If you’ve used any of these tools during early growth stages—or explored alternatives—I’d love to know which platform gave you the most control without slowing your team down. What stood out? What didn’t work as expected?

Drop your insights below. What’s the best fit for a scaling startup?

Is Pleo practical for U.S.-based startups, or is it still more suited for European teams with simpler structures?
