Screen Sharing Software Resources

We use Blue Jeans as our main video conferencing software. Our team is spread over 4 states and we video conference every day - often multiple times per day. BJ has good controls to show who is on the call, mute (self and others), turn off video, screen share, etc. We have found that a person with low band width (work@home with multiple family members all on internet) sometimes has choppy audio. The audio improves with the video turned off.

As mentioned above, there are some options BlueJeans has that Skype may not allow. There is the basic videoconference functions of sharing screen, muting audio, and turning off video. You may also (in the near future I believe) screen share videos seamlessly and apps (iOS). You have international dialing options with local numbers for remote users in other countries. What has been beneficial on our end is the statistics on how much money, gas, etc. you have saved by having a virtual meeting instead of having everyone one travel to a location. This has been great data for our Green team to maintain our LEED Certification. BlueJeans also shares the information regarding who joined the meeting and where they joined from (based on their IP address). This information is used to determine the cost savings. In addition, BlueJeans may be set up to automatically record meetings (or you may record them on a per/meeting basis). There is also integration with Google/Outlook so meetings may be created for a specific calendar invite. There are plenty more features I'm sure I'm missing, but that is a few. Skype may have similar functionality, but I have not found another platform that works as well with the video sharing and the statistics/analytics of the meetings... Hope this helps!

We find BlueJeans to be very stable, reliable, with above average customer support.Of particular note, it does an excellent job of prioritizing audio on slower connections. This means that if you're talking with someone on a spotty connection, it will allocate available bandwidth to audio rather than trying to maintain the video connection and risking dropping the connection entirely.

As a Mac user I find that Bluejeans generally is more taxing on my system than Zoom. They both do a fine job and the recent updates to Bluejeans have made it much easier to work with. Unfortunately for me, most of my customers seem to have issues with Bluejeans (downloading the client, audio, etc) and they prefer Zoom.

I have found BJ integrates better into company's other systems (email client, room video systems). Also, we have used BJ to engage with individuals who are simply joining via a mobile phone remotely without having to download any software, client, etc. If needed, you can have people joining BJ via computer, via mobile, or simply via call-in number without having to download anything in advance or create a new login.

I have never done a screenshare with Skype, so I can't attest to how that works but I can with BlueJeans. I have an elderly client that always needs assistance navigating and knowing what and how to click when getting documents to me (he lives in Brazil so meeting is not an option), he has successfully used BlueJeans on multiple occasions and has been able to get the help he needs by sharing his screen with me.
