Currently you can have meetings with up to 500 participants but you can add more with the Streaming Feature

Hi, Amy. Lifesize does not currently support breakout sessions, however we do expect this capability to become available in the future. As for Chat, the feature must be enabled at the account level. This is configured within the Admin Console by navigating to Account Settings \> General Settings. Once enabled, Chat will be available to users on your account. For mobile, Chat currently requires secondary enablement at the user level as well. Mobile users can enable Chat by navigating to Profile \> Settings.

You do not have direct break out rooms. But you can define multiple permanent rooms and provide the attendees the link to reach the different session. Chat in meetings is supported by Lifesize. If the meeting is taking place in a permanent room, the chat from the previous meetins is also available.

For family matters

Sure, while primarily intended for business communications, you can use Lifesize for personal video conferencing. In fact, a free account is perfect for meeting with friends and family.
