I would need another app for a small task. If you navigate to Utilities\>Collage you can select photos and it will create a grid collage for you. The only downside is, that it's auto generated, and isn't customizable. Tweak your performance in Preferences, "Performance" tab. If you have a strong video card, it will offer you settings to utilize that in the "Graphics Processor" section. If you don't have a strong card, that will be the weakness of your system.
