[What are the best pharmacy management systems for quick implementation without sacrificing prescription tracking?](/discussions/what-are-the-best-pharmacy-management-systems-for-quick-implementation-without-sacrificing-prescription-tracking)

Hello G2 community, there's a real tension in pharmacy software between getting live quickly and having the prescription tracking depth you actually need once you're running. Some systems are easy to launch but leave you rebuilding reports and workflows three months in. I've been going through [pharmacy management systems](https://www.g2.com/categories/pharmacy-management-systems) reviews to find the ones that handle both reasonably well.

- [**Datascan Pharmacy Software**](https://www.g2.com/products/datascan-pharmacy-software/reviews): Reviewers describe a system where prescription workflow and queue management worked well right away, without a long configuration period to get there. The double-check system and workflow visibility are highlights even for teams coming from other software.
- [**PrimeRx**](https://www.g2.com/products/primerx/reviews): Fast to learn from day one, with prescription queue tracking and patient history accessible early in the setup. Reviewers describe being able to track where a script is and pull reports on outstanding medications with minimal configuration. How smooth the overall implementation goes tends to depend on the account rep.
- [**FrameworkLTC**](https://www.g2.com/products/frameworkltc/reviews): Full-featured prescription tracking including queue visibility, ECM document integration, and cycle fill automation. Getting all of it fully operational takes time, but reviewers note you can be tracking prescriptions from launch, with the deeper features coming online as training progresses.
- [**Computer-Rx**](https://www.g2.com/products/computer-rx/reviews): Simple queue management and a home screen that breaks down new versus refill counts from the start. Easy to get going in a standard retail setting, though less suited for complex tracking needs.

For teams that have been through a fast-launch scenario, what was the first prescription tracking feature you wished you'd configured properly before going live?

The first feature I’d configure carefully is real-time queue status, including clear ownership and timestamps for each prescription stage. Without that, even a fast launch can create confusion around what is waiting, delayed, or ready, especially once refill volume starts building.

[Cerner Pharmacy vs Computer-Rx: which pharmacy management system has better insurance integration for pharmacy teams?](/discussions/cerner-pharmacy-vs-computer-rx-which-pharmacy-management-system-has-better-insurance-integration-for-pharmacy-teams)

Insurance integration is one of those features that looks similar on a spec sheet but plays out very differently day-to-day depending on your setting. I've been going through [pharmacy management systems](https://www.g2.com/categories/pharmacy-management-systems) reviews to compare these two specifically, since they serve different parts of the market and the integration story reflects that.

- [**Cerner Pharmacy**](https://www.g2.com/products/cerner-pharmacy/reviews): Reviewers in hospital and health system settings describe solid data flow within a Cerner Millennium environment, where pharmacy, EHR, and medication reconciliation all connect cleanly. For teams already inside that ecosystem, the insurance and claims data move without extra configuration. Outside it, reviewers describe a system that feels dated and requires more steps than expected for basic tasks.
- [**Computer-Rx**](https://www.g2.com/products/computer-rx/reviews): Retail pharmacy reviewers describe clean claims adjudication and improved awareness of third-party reimbursement rates as core strengths. The queue and workflow design is built for processing speed, which matters when insurance verification is a daily volume task. One reviewer did note there's no time-based queue sorting, which creates friction when volume spikes.

The honest read from reviews: Cerner Pharmacy has the edge for teams embedded in a Cerner health system where data flows naturally between pharmacy and EHR. Computer-Rx is built for independent retail where insurance processing speed and daily claims volume are the main concern. Which fits your setup better, and have either of these created friction with specific payers or coverage types?

For a retail pharmacy handling high daily claims volume, Computer-Rx sounds like the better fit because its workflow is built around fast adjudication and reimbursement visibility. Cerner Pharmacy makes more sense when the pharmacy already operates inside a Cerner health system and needs insurance data to flow with the EHR.

[Which pharmacy management systems have strong customer support for pharmacy companies under 50 people?](/discussions/which-pharmacy-management-systems-have-strong-customer-support-for-pharmacy-companies-under-50-people)

Genuinely asking because I'm tired of being treated like a small account. We're 22 people and our current vendor's support tier clearly deprioritizes us. Getting someone on the phone who actually knows the system takes an hour we don't have when something breaks mid-day. Curious what smaller pharmacy teams here are running and whether your vendor actually picks up.

From G2 reviews filtered to small pharmacy businesses:

- [**Datascan Pharmacy Software**](https://www.g2.com/products/datascan-pharmacy-software/reviews): The small pharmacy reviews are unusually consistent here. Reviewers describe knowing the support team by name, near-zero hold times, after-hours responsiveness, and someone showing up on-site during the first week. That personal-scale service is the main reason small operations stick around for years.
- [**FrameworkLTC**](https://www.g2.com/products/frameworkltc/reviews): Strong support reputation among independent LTC pharmacies. The team is responsive and goes deep on complex issues. Training is a paid extra, which is a real consideration if you're a small team and everyone wears multiple hats.
- [**PrimeRx**](https://www.g2.com/products/primerx/reviews): Mixed bag at the small pharmacy level. Some reviewers describe same-day fixes and knowledgeable reps. Others describe inconsistent quality, especially on calls where the agent isn't familiar with the specific issue. The responsiveness seems good; the resolution quality varies.
- [**Computer-Rx**](https://www.g2.com/products/computer-rx/reviews): Easy enough to use that small teams don't end up calling support that often. When they do, reviewers describe it as functional. It won't wow you, but it won't leave you waiting on hold for an hour either.

Small pharmacy teams here: has support quality alone ever been the reason you switched systems? And what's your threshold for how long is too long to wait on a critical issue?

Yes, support quality alone would be enough to make me switch if critical issues regularly interrupted dispensing or billing. For a 22-person pharmacy, I’d consider anything beyond 15–20 minutes without a knowledgeable response too long during business hours, which is why Datascan’s small-team support model stands out.
